Code Geass 15

First of all, nice finishing touch on Shirley/Lulu relationship from the earlier episode. Perhaps not everything is lost about this love pairing. BTW, Milley obviously wants some help or advice from Lelouch on stopping her marriage interview.
Second, Violetta. Although there’s a rucus about it, I don’t think some flashing tits mean anything much. Well, besides the fact that Ougi is surprisingly shy. Now that nothing stops her, she also has a chance to join Lulu’s harem, or at least the KnKD. It might also be the reason for Diethard’s future downfall.
Third, Suzaku and the scientist duo. A little more of their story revealed, and it might become surprisingly interesting later on.
Toudou and his two lieutenants are also alive, but their capture looks imminent.
And at last Mao and C.C. He quickly exits the scene with numerous bullet wounds, unless he is of the same species as C.C. we won’t be seeing anymore of him; she – gets closer and closer to Lulu, perhaps not as a lover but as a very reliable partner.

What to say about this manga?

First volume was a real blast.
Second one was OK.
And I couldn’t finish the third one. Continue Reading Ultra Maniac…

Castlevania – Aria of Sorrow

Old-fashioned platformer game that runs on VisualBoyAdvance emulator.

Good points of such  games are pretty obvious and there’s no need to mention them.

One of the most interesting things is that the emulator provides two abilities that greatly change the whole gameplay:

1) save/restore at any time – greatly reduces game difficulty

2)  increase game speed x5 while holding spacebar – allows to quickly skip
through all those irritating sequences that you definitely
don’t want to see for the hundredth time.

Getsumen to Heiki Mina 1

Another winter show besides Saint October that borrowed Okama for character design.
The plot is simple, animation is decent, music – OK.

Code Geass 14

New opening was surprisingly short-living. Edit: it was a bad joke by the capper, the OP is still there.
Unfortunately, almost everything was either spoiled to me before or was too predictable, thus the episode felt a lot less intense compared to the one a week before.

Ergo Proxy, mid-way

January 16, 2007 at 5:13 am | Posted in anime, Ergo Proxy, review | Leave a comment

Postapocalyptic future. An utopian city is attacked by two disasters: a Cognito virus that infects servant androids and brings them emotions and free will, and a monster, Proxy.

A female investigator Real Meyer is chasing an immigrant, Vincent Law, that has some connection to it. Soon they are out in the wasteland and travel together in search of some answers from Vincent’s past.

I kinda like this show, with it’s dark, gloomy atmosphere and Equlibrium-like society. It has some interesting character development and symbolic visualisation(like how first Vinsent tries to be an ideal citizen and is always shown with almost closed eye lids, but he opens them wide during his exile); infected chibi android Pino is very cute.

What I absolutely hate of this show is its OP and ED. Hearing it once was enough – it completely puts you into the wrong mood. Please, don’t use low-level english pop songs as your music!

Code Geass 13

New opening was awful. Completely unfitting images from the first OP, and not even a bit of anything resembling synchronisation.

The ending was far better, I kinda liked the song.

As for the story, it was as good as ever, this time overflowing with emotions:

Guiltyness of Karen and Lelouch,  harsh words that Suzaku and C.C. said to him, his determination – very interesting.

Right after the break, they play that great song “Stories” by Hitomi.

Congratulations to Suzaku’s on his advancement to first lieutenant .

I wonder why Mao was smiling.

Zero has a really dark sense of humour – saying that Japan’s

Liberation Front volunatary self-destructed while blowing them up himself.

And the usual cliffhanger in the end.

This show is an impressive, really impressive mix.
Can’t say it’s really good, but I’ll definitely keep watching it for a couple more episodes.

Saint October, episode 1

First impressions of a new winter show.

A bad magician is flying away dracula-style with a kidnapped boy in his hands.
He is chased by a nekomimi-wearing loli Kotono on a mix of a witch’s broom and da Vinci’s flying machine. Continue Reading Saint October, episode 1…
